Askeans have had an excellent first half of the season in both league and knock out competitions.
In the league, we have won 5 out of 7 games, our best season in many years and the team is playing some excellent enterprising rugby. Askeans are 5th in the league and as the table shows, everything is to play for.
The new league has resulted in several away games requiring coach trips – This has brought the players together even more and with the good results on the pitch, there is an excellent spirit in the club. As our Match Captain, Nick Patten recently remarked, 'It's a delight to play with these boys!'
Many thanks to our sponsors, who have funded the coach trips.
Our last game before Christmas was due to be against league leaders Old Colfeians II but was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
The players nevertheless had their Christmas Celebration, kindly sponsored by Nick Linklater
The re-scheduled game against Old Colfeians II will be the first game after Christmas, 6th January and a favourable result will make things very interesting indeed!
In the Kent Salver, Askeans had a resounding away win against Ashford Barbarians 17- 70 and now look forward to a semi-final match against the holders, Cliffe Crusaders at the Rectory Field.
The fixture schedule and a postponement meant that we had just 2 matches at the Rectory Field before Christmas but we can now look forward to 7 home matches at the Rectory Field in the New Year!
The Kent Salver match is on Saturday 10th February, the day after the Former Players’ Lunch.
Don’t forget to get your ticket for what has become a really enjoyable event in the Askeans’ calendar!
