All is good with Askean rugby!

Ian Lunn, Director of Rugby’s article for Old Askean Magazine

'I do not often say this....all is good with Askean Rugby....at the moment...

As expected post Xmas we were a vastly improved side...players returning from injury and relocating back to London.

As a result we reached the Final of the Kent Shield knockout competition - eventually losing in a closely fought game against Lordswood...a very physical side and whose league position was several places above ours...Morale was high and it remains the same...

Inspirational Captain Charlie King, presenting an award to 'Players' Player and Top Try Scorer Jack Henderson

The end of Season Dinner and Awards Night was excellent - a highlight being a motivational speech by Charlie King our Captain..

We have just resumed training and in the close season we have held a

'Curry' night, a Quiz' night and our annual challenge football match against Greenwich Vets...all were extremely enjoyable and successful!.

The RFU in their wisdom decided to rejig the Leagues based on results from the first half of the season...hence we are now in Counties Kent 5 League.... some different opposition, maybe an exciting challenge but also it involves greater travelling....particularly the likes of Cranbrook, Ashford and Canterbury, all of which will necessitate coach hire...at some cost...

As always we are actively trying to recruit which is always difficult...so if you have children, grandchildren, friends etc that wish to play....18 and over, please send them our way any standard...all will fit in - we are a very sociable Club...
