Lee Smith - Askeans Head Coach

Askeans have announced the appointment of highly experienced Lee Smith as Head Coach!

Over the past couple of seasons Askeans have grown - reaching finals and semi-finals of competitions and enjoying solid performances in the league.

The Club have now made a further significant advance with the news that Lee Smith has accepted the role of Head Coach for the new season.

Lee has considerable experience as both a player and as a level three coach. He played as a prop in the National League for Old Elthamians in a very successful 1st XV team.

He will bring that expertise and knowledge of playing at a high level to Askeans and will look, in particular, to improve the effectiveness of our scrummaging.

Lee believes strongly in developing ‘Grass roots’ rugby and that the basis of success for Askeans will be improving fitness as well as game management and our technical approach to the game.

As a major bonus for the team, Lee has even suggested that he will play when needed.

Lee will be working with senior players Dave O’Connor, Nick Patten, Lewis Bainbridge and Roddy in driving Askeans to further success in both league and Cup competitions.

'If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself!'
